CAFÉ PR LAB
Child and Family Equity Prevention Research

CAFÉ PR investigates the impact of adversity on mental health and socioemotional well-being. We focus on youth and family exposure to
relational (e.g., bullying, maltreatment), identity (e.g., discrimination, stigma), and contextual adversity (e.g., trauma, loss, family stress).
To mitigate risks, we examine risk and protective factors, and aim to advance early screening, preventive intervention, and culturally congruent practices in schools and communities. Our lab emphasizes practical efforts to enhance care access and mental health service utilization.
CAFÉ PR aspires to support communities, especially from racially and ethnically diverse and historically underserved backgrounds, at risk for adversity and trauma. Our team has a special interest in advancing Latine mental health and Spanish-language services and research.
